Google Ireland turned 20 years old in September this year, and they wanted to create a moment for the whole site that wasn’t just a party.

Together at 20 Live was a live show, a celebration and the only site-wide gathering for all Google Ireland employees for the year. It provided attendees the opportunity to reflect on the last 20 years and take pride in Google's achievements, while also looking forward to what was yet to come.

The aim was to leave employees feeling inspired, connected, and part of something special, and to give them a chance to celebrate together.

  • An enjoyable and inclusive offering to all of Google Ireland to meet, mingle and have fun while reminiscing on the importance of the last 20 years of Google in Ireland.
  • Attendee numbers was a core KPI, ensuring the event attracted as many employees as possible & that pre- comms was important.
  • It was important to find the balance between the LIVE Element and the messaging in that, and the celebration element.

the experience

During the RDS takeover, Halls 1, 2, 3, and 4 were utilised, featuring three stages for various activities. The live show was hosted by Dara Ó Briain, while Lorraine Twohill, CMO, served as a key speaker. A custom day-to-night set was arranged for the mainstage, with content curated and developed by the FUEL content team. Additionally, a livestream into Hall 1 accommodated overflow attendees.

Entertainment was spread across three halls, with Hall 4 dedicated to showcasing Rising Stars. Hall 1 featured fun and high-energy entertainment, while Hall 2 hosted party DJs. A central feature in Hall 1 was the N/A Cocktail Bar. Attendees could enjoy games and chill-out areas, as well as a Silent Disco Dome.

For VIP guests, the Merrion Room was transformed into a VIP Lounge. Additionally, Hall 3 served as a cloakroom for attendees to store their belongings during the event.

The event blended reminiscence, marking a milestone, and looking ahead while keeping the essence of a great party! Immersive experiences and entertainment amped up the energy, putting attendees at the heart of the celebration.

Our selected entertainment, speakers, interactive activities, games, food, drinks, and even furnishings were all designed to infuse an element of fun, ensuring the sense of togetherness and enjoyment lasted long after the party ended.
