The objectives for this event were to design and deliver a global programme of entertaining events that promoted employee engagement and gathered over 30,000 PayPal employees across the globe for 24hours to celebrate – ‘More Ways To Make A Difference’ and to inspire employees to have ‘More Ways To Dream’.

More Ways To Dream was a one of a kind event that inspired people to achieve their dreams.

Tov achieve these objectives, the strategy focused on:

  • An innovative, engaging and accessible platform design
  • Participation through activities that employees could take part in before and after the event
  • Sourcing of global talent to align with the theme to ensure an inspirational programme of diversity and cultural substance
  • A internal communications campaign that promoted engagement
  • Hybrid activity box – with bespoke board game and gifts

Advance engagement activities - We wanted employees to feel inspired and connected to the event and not just show up to ‘watch’ it so key to this was designing the innovative 'More Ways To Make A Difference' campaign which included a Virtual Volunteer Day, Small Business Expo and a tracking challenge to encourage employed to participate

Live interaction - Employees had the opportunity to come on the live virtual main stage in between the performances to talk about success stories of achieving dreams. Employees also had an opportunity to take part in live interactive games such as trivia and emoji riddles

Platform Engagement - FUEL's bespoke VStage virtual platform was developed with new features to enhance participation such as video &messaging features, reactive icons for clapping and sending love, a virtual exhibitor area, a virtual photo booth and dance floor

An internal communications campaign and toolkit was designed and delivered by FUEL to promote the event. FUEL designed all digital graphics, motion graphics, teaser videos and trailers.

The challenges for this event were creating a virtual and engaging program for a diverse international audience across 13 time-zones in24 hours, seeking out local and authentic talent who represented the theme of overcoming adversity and achieving their dreams, ensuring consistency of high production value in each region, and the design and distribution of 25,000 activity boxes to individual employee homes across 52 cities and 13 countries!

FUEL overcame these challenges with innovative and creative solutions which included:

  • Regional Parties – 52 PayPal offices were split into 3 party groups across 13 different time zones with a host for each region – The Americas, EMEA and APAC. One host connected all of the events together.
  • Theme Alignment and Globally Diverse Program - The more ways to dream theme was crucial to connect all of the events; this was brought to life through researching and identifying not only local talent to represent each region but also performers who had a unique story to share of how they achieved their dreams. The FUEL team worked with each performer to produce and record a variety of events which included music, dance, inspirational speakers, spectacle, and more.
  • Inspiring Participation - In the month leading up to this event, an advance activation was developed (More Ways To Make A Difference) which inspired employees to donate their time, volunteer, support social causes and support small businesses to help them achieve their dreams. This culminated with a celebration with the More Ways To Dream event.
  • Enhanced engagement features - FUEL's bespoke VStage virtual platform was developed with some new features to enhance participation such as video and messaging features, reactive icons for clapping and sending love, a virtual exhibitor area, a virtual photo booth and dance floor.
  • High Production Value - FUEL worked with each speaker, artist and performer around the world to ensure a high production value on both the pre-recorded and live events. The FUEL team managed all of the final edits and then managed the live broadcast live from our Dublin studios and created a stunning ‘dream like’ set.
  • Gifting Logistics - FUEL designed a bespoke activity box that included a board game specially designed for the event which inspired people to achieve their dreams along with gifts. FUEL managed the global logistics and distribution.

The outcome

This incredible event exceeded expectations and reached all of the objectives it set out to achieve. This amazing event gathered PayPal employees from all over the world to come together to celebrate the work that was done throughout the year.

Employees got to reunite and connect with their friends and counterparts across the 52 PayPal offices and engage with each other through an innovative and exciting programme and platform. This event inspired employees to make the world a better place, achieve their dreams and help others in doing the same. This event supported hundreds of artists, performers and local businesses across the world.
